A Kansas City restaurant has some high expectations ahead of its third location opening next week.
QSR Magazine just named Tiki Taco to it’s “hottest start-up fast casuals” list. The shortlist includes 40 restaurants across the country. Tiki Taco is the only one that is headquartered in the Kansas City area.
The restaurant is known for what it calls “California flavors with touches of Polynesian and Thai mixed with Mexico.”
Tiki Taco makes five different types of salsa and serves up burritos stuffed with ingredients that include French fries. Another perk is that the restaurant partnered with Yoli Tortilleria, which won a James Beard Award in 2023.
Tiki Taco has locations at 5400 Troost Ave. and 1710 W. 39th Street, both in Kansas City, Missouri.
The company plans to open it’s first location on the Kansas side of the state line next week. Tiki Taco in Downtown Overland Park is scheduled to open February 12, at 3 p.m.
If you aren’t feeling spicy, two other restaurants that made the cut have locations in the metro.
Pickleman’s Gourmet Cafe, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, has three locations in Kansas City, Missouri, and one in Olathe. The spot is known for gourmet deli food — from soups and sandwiches to gourmet bowls.
Beef-A-Roo out of Rockford, Illinois is known for its slow-roasted beef sandwiches, burgers, and cheddar fries. The Kansas City-area location is located near W. 135th Street and Grant Street in Overland Park.
